Worship is a necessary part of any Christian’s life in order to grow in the grace of our Lord. Because of this, First Baptist Church holds services of worship each Sunday morning and Bible Studies regularly on Sunday and Wednesday evenings.
Special services of worship are held during seasonal emphases.
To help spread God’s word, First Baptist Church participates in the Cooperative Program of the Southern Baptist Convention and Global Missions Offering of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. Our church places emphasis on local, national, and international mission efforts.
Bible Teaching – Learning
Sunday School is a weekly Bible study for all ages. Small groups provide an excellent opportunity for learning, fellowship, and outreach.
Special Bible Studies and Vacation Bible School provide concentrated study for all ages. Additional Bible Study opportunities are provided throughout the year.
Our church is involved in Bible Study ministries with the Morrison Correctional Institute.
Music is a dynamic element in the life and work of the church. Our church offers many opportunities for music training. People are involved in congregational hymn singing, handbell choirs and choral groups. The Music Ministry seeks to teach musical concepts, to develop musicianship, and to express a Christian witness in song.
Small Group Training
Our church is dedicated to equipping persons to live as Christians in today’s world. Areas of study include: Evangelism and Missions, Church and Community, Christian Doctrine, Family Life and Christian Growth. Specific topics are based on the expressed interests and needs of individuals and groups within the church.
Recreation and Social Events
Recreational and social events are an integral part of our church family activity. In our our class outings, our friendships, our sports and church-wide socials, we experience some of the fun of being a community under Christ. Special programs for our children and youth add to their experience of the church. Fellowship is a significant part of what we are about as a church.
